So! I’m very close to the end of my study abroad experience, only four short weeks left. Isn’t it crazy how fast time flies.
Updates? Unfortunately I don’t have much to say. I’ve been rather sick for the last two or three weeks and have spent most of my time in bed. It gave me some time to get some reading done and watch some TV, and relax.
The problem, apparently was the water. That’s right, I figured out that it’s the WATER that’s been bothering my stomach for the last six months. Oops! I got myself a water filter bottle and feel fantastic for the first time in a long time. Good old Britta.
I had my last Art class with the little kids today. I’m really sad to see it ending, but it was a great last day. They did a short play about “empathy” when I got there (apparently they waited so that I could be in the audience). They painted their faces with white and black face paint and did small scenes that depicted “empathetic reactions to certain situations.” It was so cute I could not stop smiling. Then we did “mosaics” with cut up construction paper. I taught the kids how to draw a simple cartoon dog or cat, as such:
Then they’d paste the colored squares into the drawing. One of the kids who didn’t have the best hand control wanted to do the dog too but couldn’t get his hands to cooperate. So we came up with a system where he would press his pencil into my finger and follow it as I drew out the dog. He ended up with one of the best green/purple dogs mosaic-ed.
I’m coming up on finals next week, and don’t actually have that much left to do to prep for them. I’m looking into the things I’ve yet to do in Chile and preparing to leave.
Until then, there’s this cake, and all night study sessions.
